DDA Access Statement For York Naburn Lock Caravan Park

Introduction

We strive to ensure that every visitor can enjoy the accommodation, facilities and surroundings within the park. Our aim is to help in anyway we can, and if you require any assistance during your stay or whilst planning your visit, we will be delighted to assist. Here you can read about facilities and services currently offered in conjunction with our caravan park plan.

Pre-Arrival

  • The park accommodates touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.
  • Only guests and visitors over 18 years of age are permitted on the site.
  • Copies of this access statement are available to download and via e-mail or post by request.

  • Pitches are allocated at the time of booking. Our staff are happy to advise on the location and suitability of pitches for your requirements.
  • Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • Reception parking is to the front and side of the reception building.
  • Once registered at reception, guests have to access the park via a barrier which is operated by key code.
  • Accessible parking bays are available in close proximity to Reception and the Facilities building.
  • All bays are 4 metres wide and allow for rear access to vehicles.
  • All signs are large with clear text.
  • Main Entrance & Reception

  • Access to Reception from the car park is via a level ramp at the side of the building, suitable for wheelchairs.
  • Access into the Reception and Shop is over a 220mm (8.75ins) step and door cill. The entrance door is 785mm (31ins) wide.
  • The Reception and Shop is spacious inside. The counter height is 965mm (38ins).

  • Public Areas – General (External)

  • Tarmac roads service the entrance and reception areas of the park, with rolled road planings covering the remaining roads.
  • The park is situated on a gentle downward slope from the reception and facilities buildings to meadow level.
  • Access to the facilities building is up a wide concrete slope from the main drive and lower pitches. This pathway is wide enough for wheelchairs.
  • From the upper pitches, a cinder path provides access to the rear of the facilities building and reception.
  • Public Areas – WC, Showers & Wash-room

  • The amenities are located in a central area of the park.
  • A dedicated disabled toilet is provided, with ground level entry, shower with seat, toilet, mirrors and basin accompanied by support rails. It is well signed and lit. Access is by key code available from reception at check-in.
  • Parking is possible opposite the facilities entrance.
  • 3 deep stainless steel sinks are available for food preparation and washing up, 89cm (35ins), under cover at the end of the facilities building.
  • Coin operated washers, dryer and iron are available in the laundry room. There is a 215mm (8.5ins) step up into the laundry room. The door is 785mm (31ins) wide.
  • Touring Facilities

  • There is a choice of grass, gravel hardstanding and fully serviced touring pitches.
  • Each pitch has 16 Amp metered electric hook-up.
  • Fresh water taps and grey waste drains are located in stations around the park.
  • Roadway lights illuminate the park after dark.
  • Parking beside your caravan is permitted.
  • Please ask if you require assistance with pitching on arrival.
  • Chemical toilet disposal points are located in the centre of the park. You can park in that area.
  • Dustbin areas and recycling points (with parking) are available at stations around the park.
  • Fire points on the park are no further than 100 metres away from any pitch.
  • Please ask about the suitability of pitches at the time of booking. We cannot guarantee to accommodate special requirements after pitches have been allocated.
  • Additional Information

  • Mobile telephone coverage is satisfactory for most providers in this area.
  • There is a local bus service 42 to York (Piccadilly) from the park entrance. Buses are equipped with access and a dedicated wheelchair passenger bay.
  • The Designer Outlet P+R (2 miles) is operated by wheelchair accessible buses. The car park provides 50 spaces for larger vehicles, e.g. campervans. Please see the
