How Do Campsite Smart Meters Work?

They are the same as a domestic energy meter, you can choose how much electricity you need for your individual tent, caravan or motorhome according to the time of the year.

Why a Smart Meter?

The energy crisis has affected all of us individually and it is no different for businesses. Smart meters tell us how much energy we are using so it enables us to decide how to use that energy and how much we need to buy.

How Much Will it Cost?

  • Top-ups or additional purchases are currently charged at £0.30 per unit (Kilowatt Hour). We reserve the right to adjust our price in line with the energy market. The park is prohibited, by law, from reselling electricity for more than our purchase price.
  • For your guidance, one unit or kilowatt hour, is equivalent to what a 1Kw heater would consume over a one hour period.
  • How Does the Smart Meter Work?

What if the amount of Credit is Close to Running out at Night?

  • If you should run low on credit, the smart meter emits a low audible warning.
  • Press the ‘Emergency’ button on the smart meter which will provide £1 in credit to last until reception opens.
  • Charging Electric Vehicles

You can now charge an electric car from the service bollard on your touring pitch. Individual vehicles have different charging characteristics so we strongly advise guests to periodically check the credit remaining on the smart meter during charging.
