The riverside walks in York City are good for dogs, including York Museum Gardens on the riverside at Lendal Bridge. However only guide dogs are permitted in the museum building.
A particularly good riverside walk starts at Skeldergate Bridge (close to the Piccadilly bus-stop) along the River Ouse and into Rowntree Leisure Park. From there it’s a short distance to York’s Millenium bridge and York Racecourse (Knavesmire) where you can let your dogs run freely (except on York racedays).
Please note. Dogs are not permitted along York City Walls.
You will find a good guide to dog friendly eateries in York City here.
