Explore Yorkshire from York Naburn Lock Caravan Park

Stunning coasts and Dramatic Moors, there’s so much to see and do in Yorkshire.

Our location, close to the A64 York – Scarborough road, makes the caravan park ideal for a tour of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park or a day trip to our beautiful Yorkshire Coast.

Castle Howard

It took three generations to complete Castle Howard, one of the World’s top mansions and star of the romantic television drama ‘Brideshead Revisited’. Castle Howard and its grounds are truly one of Yorkshire’s great treasures, a short drive or bus-ride from the caravan park.

Yorkshire Air Museum

Just a few moments from York Naburn Lock Caravan Park, Elvington, the former York RAF airstation boasts a magnificent collection of preserved WW2 fighter planes, jets and other large military aircraft. Open daily.

Scarborough, Yorkshire’s Victorian Seaside Resort

Scarborough resort and harbour retains its Victorian charm. Long, sandy beaches are sheltered by a prominent headland overlooked by the ruins of Scarborough Castle.

Robin Hoods Bay

The coastal scenery grows more dramatic as you drive North along the coast road from Scarborough, past the Old Peak at Ravenscar and into Robin Hood’s Bay. This remote fishing village at the foot of a steep cliff is one of Yorkshire’s culinary treats. Make time for lunch before walking the Cleveland way coastal path around the bay.

Whitby

The coastal tour leads us into Eskdale and Whitby, a favourite Yorkshire fishing harbour and beach resort. 199 steps above the town, the skeleton of Whitby Abbey overlooks the harbour’s stout breakwaters. Whitby deserves more than a short visit, but if that’s all you can manage, do sample Whitby fish & chips or a crab sandwich before returning over the moors to the caravan park.

North Yorkshire Moors

The North Yorkshire Moors, or North York Moors National Park, is an immense area of diverse forest, heather moor and scenic dales with crystal clear waterfalls and rivers. Guests can enjoy day trips on to the North York Moors from the caravan park’s convenient location close to the A64 road. A popular tour is Malton and Pickering, then along beautiful Newton Dale to Yorkshire Television’s picturesque ‘Aidensfield’ village (Goathland) at the ‘heart’ (or ‘Heartbeat’) of the moor. Goathland Railway station also acquired more recent notoriety as a filming location for Harry Potter. A shorter tour is to the historic market town at Helmsley and on to Helmsley Moor, visiting Rievaulx Abbey.
For a real treat, travel to Pickering and cross the North Yorkshire Moors to Whitby on the North York Moors heritage railway.

Eden Camp Museum of Modern History, Malton

This former WW2 prisoner of war camp has acquired many awards for its portayal of modern history from the second world war.
